Get Started:

I'm still deciding if medicine is right for me, where should I start?

  1. Attend CU MedVets office hours to discuss with a fellow student veteran if medicine is a good choice for you and to learn more about how your veteran status affects admissions
  2. Consider taking a pre-med course such as Chemistry I or a research focused class to see if you enjoy the subject matter and rigor
  3. Volunteer in a clinical setting such as in a Veteran's Affairs hospital to see if you could envision yourself in a healthcare career.

I'm committed to pre-med, what should I do now?

  1. Reach out to your academic advisor and ask them to connect you with one of the pre-medical committee advisors. That advisor will help you lay out a timeline and give you advice about pre-requisite courses you need to take
  2. Subscribe to the MedVets email mailer. This mailer will alert you to MCAT resources, volunteer opportunities, community events, and other veteran specific items of interest
  3. Get involved by starting to look out for the chance to shadow a physician, get clinical exposure, and pursue research. Reach out to official MedVets email for help with any of these items
  4. Join our Slack Channel for event announcements, study groups, networking and more!
